Buerré 'Bosc' pear tree is believed to be Belgium in origin, discovered early in the 19th century by a M. Bosc who raved about the buttery (buerré) characteristics. M. Bosc was the director of the Botanical Gardens in Paris. Originally planted in eastern states in 1830′s, but proved better adapted to the western states due to the longer growing season. The Bosc pear is tender, aromatic, spicy-sweet flesh inside green/yellow skin overlaid with cinnamon-brown russet. Bosc pear is excellent for baking, fresh eating and drying. Keeps for 6 months in refrigerator, but ripens best at room temperature. Distinctive flavor at its peak when pears are a golden russet-bronze. Bosc pear trees have large, upright growth. Very productive and reliable. Please refer below for more information on the Buerre' Bosc pear trees for sale.
