The Chaste Tree sports lovely, dusty green foliage garnished with lilac-purple flower spikes during the summer. The colorful blossoms are quite attractive to butterflies in particular. It can be grown as a large shrub or a small tree, though pruning at an early age is necessary to train it into a tree.
Little maintenance is necessary if chaste tree is grown as a shrub. It makes very limited messes, with the exception of some minor flower litter. It is not a slow-growing tree, but it certainly grows much faster with a regular watering schedule. It works well in low-water landscapes, but still looks very graceful near a sitting patio or pond.
